About Me

Atlanta fitness trainer for all ages

I started lifting weights at 12 years old with 110 lb weight set my brother Rick LePera bought me. Had a sheet of directions showing workout pictures that I tried to follow.

Getting Through Tough Times Mentally

I didn’t have the knowledge that I do today, but I started realizing this sort of “high” feeling from lifting that made me feel good, and I started getting stronger quickly. I started feeling more self-confident and had an energy level through the roof. Lol. When my father died when I was 14, and my first born died when I was 33, I needed a place to vent and take my frustrations out on, so I dove even harder with working out because it helped take away my mental struggles and made me feel good. Hard to describe unless you’ve experienced it. Later I learned that the reason for this is during the “pump” the body releases dopamine and the blood pumping provides fresh oxygen throughout our entire brain and body. This gives us energy, helps take away stress, makes us sharper, helps nourish & heal our respiratory system & organs. Our muscles love this fresh oxygen to help them grow with proper weight training. Wow, amazing right? Yes it is!

Doesn’t Matter When You StartFit Training In Life For Results

Through my lifetime, I worked out as little as one day a week to 7 days and weighed as much as 65 pounds heavier. Was always “stocky” but never really was defined much until 4 years ago when I gambled & changed my entire workout routine to what I now callwhich totally changed my appearance, starting at age 60. Today I can lift as heavy as I ever have with most things, but my body looks much different. People say I look “younger”, leaner and defined. I was able to get twice as much done training wise in the same amount of time due to the pace in which I train but working much smarter to achieve maximum results. .

TRAINING MY KIDS AT AN EARLY AGE:

My son Troy was 14 and my daughter Lindsay was 10 when I first had them go to the gym with me. I didn’t want them to start weight training till they had reached puberty and their hormones had started. That’s because testosterone and estrogen are key components for muscle development. So my daughter wasn’t pleased, but I only let her go on the treadmill initially, until in her case she was 12.

I told both of them what I’m going to show you is a training method for life. I said go ahead and do your specialized training for the sports you are in, but this training is for life to incorporate during your “sports years” and after. Because this works ALL your muscle groups, makes you stronger, gives you more energy, helps control your weight and will help you mentally get through all the challenges you will have in life.

DIABETES – HOW I LOWERED AND AM LOWERING MY A1c

I am pre-diabetic.  In March 2024 I had an A1c of 8.5 which would have been higher if I hadn’t been using the LePera Fit Training Technique.  I test my glucose every morning and after each workout and learned that immediately after the training I would lower my glucose as much as 100 points because it “burned it off”.  However, that wouldn’t last long till it rose again.  But at least it gave the “glucose level” spikes a chance to be lowered, so they didn’t stay high consistently. I thought I was eating pretty healthy at this time, but apparently wasn’t good enough.  So I made a significant dietary change to incorporate with my training to try before I started on any other Diabetes medicines.  I’m excited to say that this change dropped my A1c down to 6.6 in 3 months.  I feel I have to share my experience “so far” with others.  I chart my glucose every day to evaluate how my levels change with certain foods and training variations, etc. Not only that, but I’ve only been taking Metformin before and after my A1c change.  Because it’s a 3-month average, I’m guessing / hoping it will be even lower this next 3 months because the starting point of the 3 months is lower this time for the average.  For those of you who know anyone dealing with diabetes, it can be a life-threatening health issue, so I’d be happy to share more specifically “how I did it” and keep my progress updated so perhaps it can help you or someone else you care about control what they are dealing with!  At least to give it your “best shot” at attempting to manage it as natural as possible.  That’s how I look at things health-wise. We know Dr.’s say to do exercise and eat right to help prevent and lower diabetes, but like everything else, I believe it’s “how” you do both that matters.   As much as I talk about the physical and mental benefits to LePera Fit Training, this “Life Change” could perhaps help be “Life Saving” for some as well!  That's very gratifying and motivating for me to help others.  After all our health is everything to have our best quality of life right?

To be the healthiest and happiest we can be, but we need to do our BEST for those rewards!  Yes, it will take a little effort on your part with your “life changing” workout and eating routine currently, but the benefits are “ASTRONOMICAL” compared to the effort getting started.  What’s great is after the first 30 days with the “right” eating and training lifestyle, your body and taste buds will learn to “crave” the change instead of hating them.  Then they will become new habits for life! Give your body a chance to prove that to you. Just make the right changes, or you’ll want to discontinue and revert to old habits you didn’t want to have.
